2026 PLANNING IN FULL SWING

26 November 2025

It’s been a busy and exciting time at CHDC as we continue working alongside our partners, local businesses, and community to strengthen the Central Highlands economy. Every week brings something new, and it’s been wonderful to see so many projects gaining real momentum.

We’ve recently wrapped up the 2024–25 Annual Report, which gives a clear picture of the work happening across the region – from business support and visitor economy projects to agriculture, workforce and regional promotion. It’s a good reminder of how much can be achieved when everyone pulls in the same direction.

Another highlight is the release of the new Central Queensland Highlands Visitor Guide, which looks fantastic and really captures the best of our region. It’s already proving to be a strong tool for promoting local operators and encouraging visitors to stay longer and explore more.

Across the team, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes. We’re progressing a range of workshops, networking events and capability-building activities to support local businesses in 2026.

A big focus is planning for AGTECH26, happening on 23 July 2026 at the CQ Smart Cropping Centre in Emerald. We’re working closely with our partners to shape a program that’s practical, forward-thinking and genuinely useful for producers and industry. More details will be shared soon, but it’s shaping up to be a great event for the region.

We also have a full calendar ahead, including:
TOURISM25 – 3 December 2025
• CHDC’s Business Event – March 2026
• Small Business Month Event – May 2026
• Ag Regional Investment Roadshow – June 2026
• Farm to Fine Dining – September 2026
• Ongoing workshops and business networking across the region

All of this activity reflects the strength of our partnerships and the commitment we continue to see from businesses, industry groups and community leaders. Thank you to everyone who works with us, supports our programs, provides feedback, and helps keep the Central Highlands moving forward.

We look forward to sharing more updates as these projects progress and hope to see you at one of our upcoming events. For information on how you can partner with us, please contact me.
