SMART MOVE EMPLOYER PORTAL
The Smart Move Employer Portal consolidates workforce attraction tools developed during a regional pilot campaign in late 2024. The Smart Move marketing resources created during this pilot focused on attracting talent across key industries, including early childhood education and care, health, mining, agriculture, building and construction, and education. These resources are still available to support employers and partners in these priority industries.
How Smart Move can support employers:
Talent Attraction
Attracting and retaining a skilled workforce.
The Talent Attraction Project, which forms Action 9 of the WDAS (Workforce Development and Accommodation Strategy) is a collaboration between CHDC and Neon Logic Agency with the support of the Central Highlands Resources Roundtable (CHRR) and CHRC. Talent Attraction aims to alleviate critical workforce shortages in the Central Highlands and promote the region. Through research, strategy development, creative execution, campaign implementation, and analysis, the project endeavours to position the region as an appealing destination for living, working, and leisure whilst attracting and retaining skilled professionals.
Campaign Research
The Central Highlands faces ongoing labour and skills shortages, with staffing identified as a key challenge for local businesses. This was supported by a 28% increase in job postings on the Jobs Hub website.
Research, including the Central Highlands Invest Concept Study Report, identified the need for a consolidated, region‑focused approach to attracting both skilled and unskilled workers across multiple industries. These insights informed the development of the Smart Move pilot campaign, which tested a place‑based, multi‑industry approach to workforce attraction.
Campaign Strategy
The Smart Move pilot campaign was underpinned by a talent marketing strategy that positioned the Central Highlands as a place where people can enjoy rewarding careers while maintaining lifestyle and financial independence. By showcasing the region’s diverse workforce, balanced living and strong community culture, the campaign highlighted broad career opportunities and a thriving environment for individuals and families alike.
The strategy applied a clear, adaptable approach across multiple channels, using authentic employee stories to connect with both passive and active candidates and strengthen the Central Highlands’ brand as a prosperous, close‑knit community.
The Smart Move paid campaign concluded in November 2024. The Employer Portal and resources remain live.
