ACTION 7 – INVESTMENT INCENTIVES
This forms part of the Central Highlands Workforce Development and Accommodation Strategy.
CHDC to review and consolidate all known current incentives and outline suggested new incentives and/or amended policy to support investment in region.
Review should include CHRC’s Regional Economic Development Incentives as well as rates on non-principal place of residence and other potential opportunities for support directly from major employers or suppliers.

PROGRESS REPORT
Feedback from Action 4: Build 12 in 12 Applications was provided to CHRC planning and property teams for consideration around incentives that would stimulate regional property development.
7 November, CHDC presented at the CHRC Development and Planning Forum 2024 to update attendees on the WDAS and insights gained.
2 December, CHRC released the revised Economic Stimulus Framework policy, which includes incentives to stimulate development across the residential accommodation sector, available from 3 Feb 2025:
- Stream 5: Development application fees and associated infrastructure charges for long-term residential accommodation.
In December 2024, all Build 12 in 12 applicants and stakeholders interested in residential development since the strategy’s release were notified of the revised Economic Stimulus Framework, which now includes specific reimbursements for long-term residential accommodation development applications under Stream 5.

3rd February 2025 – Submissions are now open for ESP2024 – Round 4 – Stream 5 (Fees and Charges – Long Term Accommodation Approvals) and will close at 5:00 PM AEST on 11th April 2025.
