SEARCH ON FOR BEST IN BUSINESS

26 March 2025

It’s time to celebrate the hard work, resilience and success of the local business community, with nominations now open for the 2025 Central Highlands Business Excellence Awards.

Local businesses have until this Sunday, 30 March, to complete the nomination form at chdc.com.au.

These biennial awards have been proudly hosted by the Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) since 2013.

“These awards are all about hitting pause for a moment to recognise and celebrate the people behind the businesses – those that invest in our region, create jobs, and help the Central Highlands to thrive,” CHDC CEO Peter Dowling says.

The 11 categories open for nominations include the inaugural Regional Corporate award, which acknowledges major retailers, fast-food outlets, branches and other national brands that have adapted their corporate blueprint to fit the needs of the Central Highlands.

All winners will be decided by an independent judging panel and announced at a gala dinner in Emerald on 6 September. Tickets will be available soon.

Cassie Turner, whose CQ Rural Traders was named 2023 Emerging Business of the Year, says the entry process was an opportunity to reflect on her business’ growth and future potential.

“I really encourage other business owners in the Central Highlands to participate in these awards because you’re going to set aside the time to really focus on your business,” Ms Turner says.

“That’s everything from your policies and procedures to your day-to-day business activities, and the awards at the end are just the bonus.”

A suite of workshops will guide nominees through the entry process and provide business-boosting skills and knowledge.

Businesses can either nominate themselves or be nominated.

This nomination phase excludes the People’s Choice Award. That category, which is determined by public vote, will open for nominations on 2 June.
