POST-FLOOD SUPPORT

Local primary producers affected by flooding in January 2026 can now apply for disaster assistance.
The following Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements have been activated for the Central Highlands Regional Council local government area.
- Exceptional Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants – Funding of up to $75,000 to help cover costs associated in the clean-up and reinstatement of a primary production enterprise that has suffered direct damage as a result of the disaster event. ** Now includes embryo transfer procedures **
- Disaster Assistance Loans – Concessional interest rate loans to assist primary producers whose assets have been significantly damaged by an eligible disaster, to recover and return to viable operations. Maximum of $2 million (increased in early March from $250,000).
- Disaster Assistance (Essential Working Capital) Loans Scheme – Concessional interest rate loans to primary producers who have suffered a significant loss of income as a result of an eligible disaster by providing the essential working capital required to continue business operations. Maximum of $100,000.
- Freight Subsidies – To assist primary producers impacted by an eligible disaster with the transport of livestock, fodder or water for livestock, building, fencing equipment or machinery to the primary producer’s home property. Maximum $5,000.
- The Queensland Government will apply automatic 12-month land rent deferrals to eligible state land tenure holders (announced on 12 March).
This support relates to the event officially named North Queensland Monsoon Trough, Associated Tropical Cyclone Koji and Severe Weather commencing 24 December 2025.
