Queensland Country Tourism is proud to deliver our region’s first, First Nations Tourism Action Plan. This initiative is proudly supported by the Queensland Government and the Australian Government.

What Are We Aiming to Achieve?

The First Nations Tourism Action Plan prioritises the voices and aspirations of First Nations communities and Traditional Owners, ensuring tourism is developed in a way that aligns with cultural values and vision. Through a series of stakeholder engagement sessions across Queensland Country, we will work together to define sustainable, culturally respectful visitor experiences and actionable pathways for achieving long-term outcomes.

Why TRC Tourism?

TRC Tourism is a global leader in tourism planning, with extensive expertise in Indigenous tourism development. We are proud to work with Janet Mackay, TRC’s Director for Australia and New Zealand, who brings over 25 years of experience in sustainable tourism and Indigenous tourism planning.

Janet will lead this session, supported by Stephanie Parker, Lead of Special Projects with Queensland Country Tourism. Together, they will ensure the outcomes reflect the values and aspirations of Traditional Owners and stakeholders.

This stakeholder engagement session is an opportunity to:

  • Share your insights and ideas to help shape the First Nations Tourism Action Plan.
  • Learn about sustainable tourism approaches that align with community aspirations.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and Traditional Owners to define actionable outcomes for the region.

This session is one of several to be held across Queensland Country, allowing communities to have their voices heard in shaping the plan.

For more information or to stay informed about upcoming sessions, contact Steph Parker at steph@queenslandcountrytourism.com.au.
