Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) workshops – Central Queensland

Local communities can have their say about developing a renewable energy zone (REZ) and take part in the REZ readiness assessments.

These sessions, presented by the Queensland Department of Energy and Climate, will help to:

• understand your community’s views
• plan the rollout of REZs
• minimise any impacts from developing a REZ
• identify opportunities for your community to benefit from a REZ.

We’ll cover topics including:

• First Nations considerations
• local infrastructure, like roads and bridges
• transport
• workforce
• housing and accommodation
• local industry, supply chains and the circular economy (how we recycle and reprocess waste)
• land use and agriculture
• environment
• social infrastructure, including health.

There will also be two other opportunities in the Gladstone area to get further information:

• 6 July 2024 | Pop-up at the Gladstone Show | Venue: Gladstone Showground, corner Scenery Street and Tank Street, Gladstone.
• 6 August 2024 | Drop-in sessions | Times: 11am–2pm and 4pm–7pm | Venue: Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct, 1 Pengelly Street West, Gladstone.
