Central Highlands Cuisine Shines in City

The Central Highlands’ passion for produce has once again injected a regional flavour into Ekka season.

The 3rd Farm to Fine Dining Regional Produce Dinner was hosted by CHDC to promote regional produce and agribusiness to 70 influential guests.

“The dinner shines a light on the often-hidden delights of Central Highlands agriculture but not just its end product,” CHDC General Manager Sandra Hobbs says.

“It tells the stories behind the produce – the hard work, innovation, and value-adding practices of the producers.”

Produce in this year’s menu included:

  • limes and mandarins from Emerald’s 2PH Farms
  • free-range dorper lamb from Emerald’s Nogoa Dorpers
  • Fair Dinkum Meats’ award-winning sausages
  • Atlantic potatoes from Comet’s Cunzolo Farms
  • Ikers Group Euneeke Beef wagyu from Springsure
  • macadamias from Hinkler Park Plantation (HPP) in Emerald and Yamala
  • artisan breads from Southern Cross Agricultural Exports

  • honey from Rainbow Apiaries in Springsure
  • pumpkin and free range eggs from Emerald IGA
  • Comiskey Bazadais Beef from Capella was also featured on the menu, not long after the business placed first in the ‘Pen of Six Steers Carcass in the 100 days Grainfed’ category of Ekka’s Paddock to Palate competition for the second year in a row.
