eNews 10 December 2019 - Tourism Plans for 2020
FROM THE DESK OF CHDC'S TOURISM DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Thank you to everyone who turned out for CHDC’s Tourism and Events Forum and Tours last month. It was fantastic to see so many business operators who were keen to learn, collaborate and share their ideas on how to prepare for the 2020 tourism season.
Feedback has been excellent, with most attendees rating the Forum an 8 or 9 out of 10 in a post-event survey. Ninety percent found the presentations from our expert guest speakers the most beneficial part of the event. If you would like to share your feedback, please contact me on the details further below. We will take all the responses on board as we begin planning a follow-up event in 2020.
Visitor Economy Vision
An exciting highlight of the Forum was the launch of the Central Highlands Visitor Economy Strategy 2020-2022. All of us can help to bring this vision to fruition – in fact, its success depends on it – so I urge you to have a read and start thinking about what part you can play.
Year Ahead
CHDC’s first major tourism project for 2020 will be the completion of the Central Highlands Mining Trail in time for Easter. This is joint initiative with BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) was launched at the Forum with a short film Gregory Crinum Mine Legacy, which reflects upon the 36-year history of the Gregory Crinum Mine Complex, north of Emerald, under the stewardship of BMA.
I hope you manage to find time to relax and recharge over the festive season but I also encourage you to spend a bit of time brushing up on your social media skills. You can find many great resources online and a great place to start is CHDC’s Social Media Support for Tourism Business page.
Merry Christmas and happy New Year. and I look forward to working with you again in 2020.
