LIGHTS, CAMERA, AGRICULTURE!

The people and produce of Central Highlands agriculture are front and centre of a new showcase video about the sector.

Central Highlands Agriculture – the future is growing here is an upbeat mini documentary that highlights world-class beef, cotton, grains, pulses, citrus, and table grapes produced in the region and its underpinning spirit of innovation and sustainability.

Emerald mixed-crop producer Aaron Kiely says it was a proud moment when the video premiered at this month’s Central Highlands Farm to Fine Dining advocacy event in Brisbane.

“The Central Highlands is a really exciting, productive part of Australia so it’s a real privilege for me to be on the video and to help showcase our region,” Mr Kiely says.

The film can be viewed at chdc.com.au.

It is a joint initiative of the Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) and Queensland Department of Primary Industries (DPI) through a Collaboration Agreement.

“At the heart of it, this video has a really important message – which is the Central Highlands is a region of productivity, diversity, and innovation – and that’s our superpower we want the world to see,” CHDC CEO Peter Dowling says.

“But the finished product is also simply a joyful and great-looking mini doco and I think that feelgood factor is going to strike a chord with a wide audience.”

The new film is available as a free resource for businesses and industry organisations to promote the region to prospective staff and investors, and will be used by CHDC to support trade, investment and export promotion opportunities for the region.

The film follows on from CHDC’s 2017 Central Highlands Agriculture – more than you expect! which has clocked approximately 50,000 views on Facebook and almost 11,500 views on YouTube.

The Central Highlands agricultural industry generated nearly $1 billion in output in 2024. The region has more than 1,400 agribusinesses and employs 1,970 people in the sector.
