Free Tourism Training

10 December 2025

It was CHDC’s great pleasure to host the Central Highlands’ TOURISM25 last week. We were excited to see so many guests who had travelled from outside our region with a view to working more closely with us on new experiences, astro-tourism trails and volunteer networks. We hope to report more on those outcomes soon.

Presenters Mike Dalley of Astrolomy and Felicite Cootes of Queensland Country Tourism were fantastic, providing insights on working together, experience development and volunteering. Mike and Felicite’s presentations can be viewed here.

We are also able to share that the Queensland Welcomes You tourism program is continuing until 2029. This free, online training takes one to two hours to complete all the modules, and helps tourism operators, hospitality staff, event teams, volunteers and locals build the skills and confidence to deliver warm, inclusive and memorable experiences

For more advanced training needs, the Tourism Business Capability Subsidy is relaunching in February 2026. Eligible tourism and events businesses can apply for funding of up to $2,000 for targeted training and accreditation activities to increase their business capabilities.
