From the Desk of CHDC

END OF EVENTFUL ERA

20 February 2026

After nearly nine years with Central Highlands Development Corporation, this will be my final eNews column. It’s hard to put into words just how much this role, this organisation, and this region have meant to me. From my first days helping deliver major events and projects across the Central Highlands to supporting the Board and CEO, it has been a privilege to play a small part in the region’s growth and success.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside an incredible team and a strong network of businesses, partners, producers, and community leaders. Together we’ve delivered initiatives like the Central Highlands Business Excellence Awards, AGTECH, business networking opportunities, and of course my secret favourite Farm to Fine Dining. I was fortunate to be involved in nine of the 10 Farm to Fine Dining events, each one a true celebration of our producers, our industry, and our community. What stands out most to me though are the people, particularly the talented colleagues I’ve worked alongside over the years, many of whom have become lifelong friends.

One of the greatest privileges of my role has been supporting the CHDC Board and working alongside so many dedicated professionals behind the scenes. I’d especially like to acknowledge the past and present Board members and CEOs for their guidance, mentorship, and leadership over the years – it has been an honour to support you and learn from you. The work of regional development is always a collective effort, and I’ve been fortunate to see the collaboration that happens across government, industry, and the private sector to keep our region moving forward.

There is also plenty to look forward to in the months ahead:

  • CHDC will host a lunch on 13 May to celebrate Queensland Small Business Month. Save the date in your diary and we’ll announce when ticket sales open.
  • AGTECH26, set for 23 July, continues to grow as a key platform for innovation and industry connection.
  • Farm to Fine Dining returns in September. It’s an event that has become a signature celebration of the Central Highlands and everything our region produces so well.
CHDC’s annual Farm to Fine Dining was a favourite of Kylie Hawkins (pictured, right, with Dan Marshall and Cassian Drew from Acclimate Partners at the 2025 event).

None of this would have been possible without the support of my family. My husband Jeremy has always backed me through the busy seasons, the big events, and the inevitable stress that comes with them, usually with a good sense of humour and a steady approach to whatever was going on that week. This year we celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, which is a milestone I’m incredibly proud of.

Our kids have also been a constant source of encouragement. They’ve grown up around the pace of this role and, even when it meant long days or distracted conversations, they’ve always believed in me and supported what I do. Having that kind of support at home has made all the difference.

As I move into this next chapter, I do so with enormous gratitude for the experiences, relationships, and lessons I’ll carry with me. The Central Highlands has a strong voice, and it’s important that we continue to advocate for ourselves, keep telling our story, and keep pushing the flag forward so this region continues to be recognised for the incredible opportunity, innovation, and resilience it represents.

I look forward to staying connected and watching the continued success of CHDC and the Central Highlands.
