A busy business month
1 May 2024
It’s May already and what a busy month we have ahead.
CHDC’s 2024 Central Highlands Business Survey has gone live today. We’re calling on all small business owners, sole traders and business managers to take a few minutes to jump online and complete the survey. Your feedback is vital and gives us insights into:
- Business confidence in the local economy
- Overall business performance
- Challenges business are currently facing
- Opportunities for increased growth
We’re already taking steps to start to address some of the challenges our region is facing, with the recent launch of the Central Highlands Workforce Development and Accommodation Strategy (WDAS). Some additional questions have been included in this year’s survey to complement the WDAS’ roll-out.
The survey will remain open until Friday, 7 June.

May also marks the start of Queensland Small Business Month (QSBM), a celebration and acknowledgement of all small businesses and the pivotal contribution they make to the State’s economy and communities. This is an opportunity to highlight, celebrate and support the thousands of small businesses across the state.
On a local level, 89 percent of the 3,330 businesses registered within the Central Highlands are small businesses. CHDC is committed to providing ongoing support and opportunities for them to be successful, strong and resilient.
This May, we will be hosting Business Networking at Emerald’s Western Gateway this Friday, 3 May, and a Small Business Month Celebration lunch on Thursday, 23 May.
Please shoot me a quick email if you’re coming to the networking event. Tickets to the lunch can be purchased here.
You can also show your support for QSBM on social media by using the tags #QSMB2024 and #loveyoursmallbusiness in your posts during May.
CHDC’s Business Facilitator program is supported by the Local Buying Foundation.
