BIG EVENT A BIG DEAL FOR ECONOMY
29 May 2024
The Central Highlands is about to see another great example of the value of major events to a visitor economy.
Emerald will host the third round of the Australian Kart Championship on 31 May and 1 June.
Karting Australia tells CHDC the competition has almost 400 entries, which means between 1500 and 1700 people from across Australia will be staying in local accommodation for a minimum of four nights, dining at local eateries, and shopping.
There’s also the long-term value of the exposure it brings to our region – Karting Australia alone has 27,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram.
The event is open to the public, entry is free, and more information can be found here on What’s On Central Queensland Highlands.
Local businesses are encouraged to stay ahead of the curve by regularly checking for upcoming major events on that online calendar, including the Boon Lane Country Music Festival in July, and August’s Gemfest, and Outback Classics Show and Shine.
A key aim of What’s On Central Queensland Highlands is to help operators plan for increased capacity demands and leverage marketing opportunities around major events.
The site is an initiative of CHDC as part of its work in tourism development. Find out more here.
