A new initiative will put cutting-edge regional businesses at the forefront of Queensland’s crusade to generate jobs of the future.

The Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) is giving 10 businesses from across the Fitzroy region the opportunity to participate in the State’s largest-ever innovation festival, QODE 2019.

QODE (pronounced ‘code’) will be held in Brisbane on 2 – 3 April and deliver inspirational content to the start-up and entrepreneurial community.

“More than 1000 innovators, investors and entrepreneurs from across the globe will be attending this exciting event and we’re thrilled to be able to put our region’s businesses in the mix,” CHDC General Manager Sandra Hobbs says.

“This is a chance to gain powerful insights into the technology and innovation space, connect with the world’s best entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, and get ahead of the curve.

“Beyond that, injecting an impressive contingent of regionally-based businesses into QODE will serve to build awareness of our region and its capacity and passion for innovation.”

Applications are open at chdc.com.au/QODE2019 and close at 5:00pm, Monday, 11 March.

The package for successful applicants includes tickets to attend QODE, a travel subsidy, and exhibit space as part of the Fitzroy region’s delegation within the Regional Innovation Showcase.

CHDC is delivering the initiative as part of Advance Queensland’s Advancing Regional Innovation Program.

“We’re looking for applicants who represent the best our region offers – startups, innovative businesses, and entrepreneurs who are committed to solving complex problems right here on our doorstep,” Ms Hobbs says.

“If your business is motivated and passionate about challenging convention and driving forward creativity, this is for you.

“Start-ups and scale-ups, including indigenous-operated businesses, are strongly encouraged to apply.”

Sponsored by Advance Queensland, QODE forms part of a new festival called Curiocity Brisbane, which includes the successful World Science Festival Brisbane.
