2019 From Paddock to Port Tour

Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone

New levels of supply chain connectivity created through improved shipping services and infrastructure are growing opportunities for Central Queensland producers and agribusiness across diverse markets.

3 Ports in 3 Days: From Monday 1 July to Thursday 4 July 2019, CHDC and the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries have run their second tour of the Port of Townsville (POT), Port of Mackay (North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation) (NQBPC) and Gladstone Port Corporation (GPC) facilities for a group of 20 exporters, aspiring exporters and value chain members. Tour participants have:

• Gained insights from key supply chain personnel for Central and Northern Queensland as well as the experiences of local producers from the Port site visits
• Received relevant updates on the near future for grains and other commodity freight and logistics
• Connected with the people growing, processing, freighting and exporting the products from our region

The 'From Paddock to Port Tour' is a significant project of the Central Highlands Accelerate Agribusiness (CHAA) Initiative of the Central Highlands Development Corporation in partnership with the Queensland Government Department of Agriculture & Fisheries. CHDC thanks and recognises our sponsors for the 2019 Tour: the Grains Research & Development Corporation, Advance Queensland, Central Highlands Regional Council, CQ Inland Port, GrainCorp, NQBP (Mackay) and Lowes Petroleum. CHDC and DAF also thank the Gladstone Ports Corporation and the Port of Townsville for their significant in-kind support.
