The Central Highlands ‘Investing in our Future’ Conference series brings together speakers and stakeholders to discuss current and future initiatives; development and investment opportunities; and projects, products and services that will support the region’s continued growth.
Hosted biennially by CHDC, attendance at the conference enables delegates to access a diverse range of relevant and up-to-date information, provide cross-industry and community interaction, and highlight the wealth of investment, employment, social and lifestyle choices in the Central Highlands.
The inaugural conference, held on 16-17 March 2012, was emceed by author, journalist and sports personality, Peter FitzSimons AM and enabled the 185 delegates in attendance to access diverse, relevant and up-to-date information on topics influencing the region and future opportunities for investment.
The second conference instalment held from 20-21 May 2014 attracted over 150 delegates, despite lower international trading conditions for coal and a drought severely impacting the region.
“The attendance and involvement of those participating is a testament to how this conference has grown into one of the state’s most worthwhile regional economic development events.”
– David Edwards, Director General, Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning
Emceed by one of Australia’s most respected and experienced finance and economics commentators, Michael Pascoe, the conference featured presentations from a range of industry leaders who detailed the many emerging opportunities in resources, agriculture, tourism and regional development, and demonstrated there is no shortage of business and investment opportunities brewing in the region.
“…the use of the sectoral streams and the diversity of speakers really produced a conference that was contemporary and achieved goals of getting key players thinking and engaging in the issues of the future.”
– Neal Muller, General Manager, Industry Development, Tourism Division, Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games.
Held in Emerald from 25-26 October, the 2016 Central Highlands ‘Investing in our Future’ Conference is the latest instalment in the event series. It attracted 130 delegates, and was emceed by Warwick Powell, founder and director of Sister City Partners.
